دکتر علیرضا بجانی به تدریس اخلاق و الهیات اسلامی در دانشگاه بیرمنگام اشتغال دارد و از اساتید افتخاری «مرکز مطالعات بینا-مسلمانی» (Centre for Intra-Muslim Studies) در موسسه المهدی (Al-Mahdi Institute) است. او دکترای خود را در رشته مطالعات عربی از دانشگاه دورم اخذ کرده است و سابقه تدریس در دانشگاههای ناتینگم و آکسفورد را دارد. علایق پژوهشی او عمدتا نظریه فقهی شیعه در دوران معاصر و ارزش آن در بررسی مساپل فلسفی و الهیاتی در حوزههای اخلاق، معرفتشناسی، و هرمنوتیک است. دکتر بجانی بر اتخاذ رویکردهای چندرشتهای و میانرشتهای در قبال سنتهای فکری اسلامی تاکید دارد. از آثار منتشره او میتوان چشماندازهای شریعت: بحثهای معاصر در اصول فقه شیعه (بریل، ۲۰۲۰) و عقلگرایی اخلاقی و شریعت: عقلایت مستقل در اصول فقه شیعی معاصر (راتلج، ۲۰۱۵) اشاره کرد.
